One unique aspect of dynasty compared to redraft fantasy football is the rookie draft each year. Since your players are kept year to year, there is no need for a big draft. But, as new players join the league through the NFL draft, those players need to be dispersed throughout your league.
Teams are given picks for this rookie draft every year. And that can be determined in many different ways. Often it is based on the previous year’s performance in order to help balance the league. The worse a team does, the earlier in the draft they get to pick. Which theoretically gets them a better player. But, how much better?
To help understand the value of these rookie draft picks, I’ve done some research on what happened to these picks in recent years. After they were selected in the rookie draft, where were these players valued in the league as a whole? And after that first year, how did their value change?
I’ll be releasing more info on the results of this study over the next several weeks, but for now check out this video preview. And if you’re not already subscribed, make sure you subscribe to get these articles emailed directly to you as soon as they are published.
